Our Chippenham based client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join its production team. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating various machinery, including guillotines, folders, lasering machines, and enclosing machines.
Full training will be provided to ensure your success in this role. Your primary objective will be to ensure that all finishing operations are carried out to the correct specifications and in accordance with job briefs.
Machine Operator Key Information:
* Salary: £22,000 – £24,000PA
* Overtime available with shift allowance on top of salary.
* Contract type: Permanent or Temp to Perm available
Machine Operator Hours:
Normally, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, some flexibility is required during key periods.
Shift options:
06:00-14:00hrs (5days) – Normal
Or
Hours 13:30-21:30hrs (5days) – Normal
Or
Hours 13:30-23:30hrs (4 days only) – Normal
Or
06:00-18:00 – Occasionally – during peak periods
All additional hours over 37.5hrs will be paid at overtime rates.
Machine Operator Key Responsibilities:
* Develop a comprehensive understanding of all quality procedures related to each finishing process.
* Familiarize yourself with the operational requirements of the assigned machine.
* Stay fully informed about production dates and timings for each campaign.
* Promptly notify the Production Manager of any issues regarding machine speed or quality.
* Strive to achieve zero defects and actively seek opportunities to reduce waste.
* Identify and suggest changes that could improve departmental efficiencies.
* Report any obstacles that may hinder your job performance to the Production Manager immediately.
Important Priorities:
* Adhere to company policies regarding system, data, and physical security at all times.
* Comply with the company’s health and safety policies, having read and signed the company Health & Safety policy.
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as PCI and GCRTS.
* Follow company Standard Operating Procedures when applicable.
Departmental Responsibilities:
* Prepare printed materials for lasering, folding, trimming, or enclosing by carefully reviewing job instructions.
* Set up lasering, folding, guillotine, or enclosing equipment, ensuring you have the correct job and stock from each department.
* Monitor machine operations, maintaining production and quality standards by detecting malfunctions and deviations and making necessary adjustments.
* Continuously check the quality of the job to avoid machine operation issues and report problems with supplied stock.
* Deliver completed jobs from each finishing process to the relevant departments within the designated timeframe, ensuring high-quality work.
* Maintain good housekeeping within your assigned area at all times.
* Be open to necessary training and assist in operating other equipment within the department as required, such as OCE/Xerox laser printers, Pitney Bowes Enclosing machines, Neopost Enclosing machines, and Guillotines.
Machine Operator Desirable Skills:
* Previous experience with OCE/Xerox laser printers, Pitney Bowes Enclosing machines, Neopost Enclosing machines, Folding Machines, or Guillotines is preferred but not required as full training will be provided.
Machine Operator Essential Skills:
* Literacy & Numeracy: C grade GCSE or equivalent.
* Minimum 1 year of demonstrable experience in a production machinery environment.
* Flexibility to work extended hours or shift patterns during busy periods.
